The Inca Jungle Tour is a very popular tour among travelers, and with good reason! However, the Inca Jungle Tour ends at same magical destination: The glorious Lost City of the Incans-Machu Picchu. This tour will provide you with great memories that you will never forget! Essentially, this tour is the same as the classic 4D/3N Jungle Trek, but it omits a day of walking without omitting any of the adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco – Santa María : Biking 55Km and Santa Teresa

Pachacutec Expeditions will start the Inca Jungle Tour by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 6.30 a.m.  We will drive you to Abra de Malaga, (4,350mtrs), the highest pass in the Vilcanota Range. From here, we will bicycle downhill until we reach the small town of Santa Maria, (1,430 mtrs). Along our journey we will pass picturesque rolling hills and the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota Mountain Range. We will have opportunities to take some pictures along the way as well , as it is going to take around 3 or 4 hours of downhill riding. While taking in the majestic views, the ride is wonderful and relaxing at the same time. When we finally arrive, we will have some free time to rest, then we will take the bus to Santa Teresa. After a day of biking, we can relax in the hot springs.

Day 2

Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes : trekking 16Km

We will begin our hike to the small town of Aguas Calientes. We will walk for 3 hours in the Aobamba Valley until we reach the Intihuatana sector, where we pass a government control post and continue the hike. Lunch will be included along the path and we will have the opportunity to see a series of waterfalls and admire the majesty of the mountains surrounding Machupicchu and Haynapicchu. Here you will also have the opportunity to see an astronomical sundial used by the Incans, as well as other constructions of the Incan citadel of Machupicchu. After 3 hours of walking, we will arrive in Aguas Calientes alongside the train tracks that lead to the small town.

An extra option for this morning of the Inca Jungle Tour is a Zip-Line tour, which will cost an extra US $35.

Day 3

Machu Picchu- Cusco

We will wake up very early, at 4:00 a.m., in order to start trekking up the mountain to Machu Picchu in time to catch the sunrise at the top. It will take approximately an hour and 45 minutes to reach the top. When we first arrive, our guide will take us on a 2 or 3 hour walking tour of the  Machu Picchu Inca site, enriching us with the Inca’s history. The guide will be very knowledgable and the tour very informative. then you will have  free time to explore the ruins on your own. If you want to climb Huayna Picchu, it is recommended to book in advance, at least two months before you come, since tickets are limited. You can also book Huayna Picchu with the tour for an additional cost of US $15. There is a limit of 400 people per day permitted to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain. The round trip hike to the peak of Huayna Picchu takes about an hour and a half. The stunning views from the top certainly make the hike worth the effort.

Once you have finished exploring, you will need to return to Aguas Calientes in order to catch the return train to Cusco or Ollantaytambo. You will be met at either destination by a driver who will take you  back to your hostel in Cusco
